CABLECRAFT

Heavy Truck

For more than 45 years, Cablecraft has been a leader in providing quality Motion Control and Linkage products to the Heavy Truck and Bus industries with our truck cable and linkage products used on most leading brands found on the roads today. We provide a wide range of standard and custom heavy truck cables and linkages designed to your system requirements and as an IATF16949 and ISO9001 certified organization, you can be assured we put quality first in all that we do.

Motion Control Cables

Motion Control cables (pull-pull, push-pull) are widely used in the heavy truck and specialty vehicle industries for applications which vary from shifting to latch release. These cables range from light-duty use, less than 25 load requirements, to heavy-duty use with loads as high as 3,000 lbs. Our engineers will work with you to design a Line of semi trucks parked next to each othermotion control cable based on your specific application, whether you require industry leading efficiencies, high compressive strength or flexibility for difficult routing applications.

Pull-Pull Cables – Light-duty pull-pull cables are frequently used for latch release or seat adjustment applications in the heavy truck and specialty vehicle industries while heavy-duty pull-pull cables can be used for brakes or clutches. Pull-pull cables are used when only transmission forces are required and often utilize a spring to return to the original position after activation.

Push-Pull Cables – Most commonly used for shifting and power takeoff (PTO) applications in heavy trucks and specialty vehicles, a push-pull cable transmits movement in both directions and is constructed with a cable or wire with robust column strength such as a solid wire, a wire rope with a single wire at its center like a 1x7 or a reinforced wire rope such as Armored Core.  Extruded coverings can be added for robust, friction free motion.

Performax®

The Performax® line of push-pull cable solutions offers application-driven performance to optimize any project. Using Cablecraft’s proprietary designs, we have developed a line of cables that will save development time and costs while improving performance. Whether your application demands high compressive strength, maximum efficiency or increased flexibility, the Performax® line of control cables can be engineered to your application requirements.

Safety/Restraint Cables

Safety/Restraint cables, or sometimes referred to as lanyards, are static cables used for restraining or stopping a moving object. There is a vast array of applications for safety/restraint cables used on heavy trucks and specialty vehicles ranging from hood stop cables to air tank restraint and fuel cap lanyards.  Cablecraft offers a wide range of these cables using eyelets (diecast or steel) or loops and can be coiled or non-coiled. We also offer Nylon, Vinyl or TPE coated cable to protect from the environment or for aesthetics.

Cycle-Flex® Miniature Cables

Cycle-Flex™ by Cablecraft is the recognized leader in miniature mechanical cable technology for its durability and long life in high cycle applications. Its versatility for product applications in the heavy truck industry, ranging from motion control to safety/restraint, has made it the preferred choice by design engineers where size and durability matter. Cycle-Flex™ is offered in a variety of constructions and in diameters as small .15 mm and can either be coated or uncoated, lubricated or un-lubricated.

Linkages

Cablecraft offers a wide range of linkage products and assemblies. Linkage products are often used when a direct robust solid connection is needed. Linkages offer minimal lost motion from your input source to the output and can often transmit higher loads safely at comparable sizes.

Rod Ends – Rod ends are the most long-lasting options for linkages as they offer more wear surface at the bearing with the options to include long-life self-lubricated surfaces such as PFTE liners, Lubricated Nylon, Oil Impregnated Bronze and or many other specialty coatings for extreme environments or temperatures such as Cablecraft line of proprietary high temp composite materials. In the Heavy Truck industry, our long-lasting low friction self-lubricated rod ends make ideal bearings for hard to service places that often see years of tough conditions. Items ranging from Clutch Rods to Manual Transmission Shifter cable ends.

Ball Joints – Ball joints are often found used in light-duty Throttle adjustment applications or for simple actuation controls. Often Ball Joints, as well as Rod Ends, can be used in combination with Push-Pull Cables.

Linkage Assemblies & Machined Components – Our Engineering team can help create many custom assemblies that fall outside of what a typical Ball Joint, Rod End or Swivel Joint might look like. These linkages can help create value for the customer by in most cases creating final Input to Output solid assembly that the user must only bolt in place and rest assured that their motion will move smoothly and securely over time without concern. Cablecraft can also secure the attachment components and levers to complete the full motion control assembly. Along with custom assemblies, Cablecraft also offers a wide range of custom machined capabilities for special parts for the many key components through the cabs and outer aerodynamic components of a Heavy Duty truck assemblies, such as suspension systems or cab/exterior body components.

Actuation Products

Cablecraft offers the widest selection of products available for a multitude of heavy truck actuation requirements. Utilizing our light duty pull-pull cables, often paired with our release mechanisms, these systems offer lightweight, reliable and cost-effective solutions for remote actuation of latches, seat adjustment and locking gas springs.
